Airport Shopping – hurts your pocket, and they know it

Next time you’re walking through a UK airport, remember this fact:

Passengers spend 7p for every minute they are in Manchester airport’s retail area.

And there’s nothing to suggest that this isn’t a typical figure. So if you’ve ever wondered why you’re forced to take long circuitous routes through the airside shopping malls in major airports, now you know.

Manchester figure that if they could keep passengers in the shops for an extra three minutes, they’d bring in an extra £23m annually. (via Computing)
