Gourmet Burger Bank - scrumptious lunch

Had a lovely late lunch in Belmont Road’s Gourmet Burger Bank yesterday.

The blue cheese burger was utterly delicious and duck salad was enjoyed too.

This isnt the first eatery you have mentioned as being a pleasant establishment to eat at. I have only ever been to the Belmont Road once, and dont know when I will ever be back.

I've had good and bad experiences in GBB ... waiting more than 45 minutes for food on the first occasion, and ending up with the meal on the house!

GBB is a great addition to the Belmont Road, but I do feel sorry for the peole who live right behind it (same for anyone beside any other other eateries I suppose). It's a wee bit pricey but still better value overall than Bennetts or indeed Grace N Groove it has to be said. Just stumbled across yer blog Alan and being a local I'll keep an eye on your ramblings! Cheers.

Took my parents here for a non-traditional Sunday dinner yesterday; my first visit in a few months. They were impressed, mum with her Thai chicken, dad with his BBQ burger, and new nephew Daniel sleeping peacefully after his Aptamil burger. My sister also shocked convention by ordering the Portobello burger, which I've never seen anyone have before. It was the tallest of the lot.

I see that most of the waiting staff in GBB are now eastern European (in keeping with the trend in many city centre eateries), and this is a good thing because (a) god knows NI needs a bit of long-overdue diversity, (b) it's the sign of a healthy economy, and (c) they're a lot more pleasant than many young local waiting staff (though not in GBB of course!). It's a shame though that either young people from the area aren't interested in doing this sort of work, or - who knows? - aren't sufficiently qualified.

a goumet burger bar in belfast, feck! i wanted that idea. The question is though - is it as good as the one at St Georges Market on Saturdays (Rocket and Relish I think)?

Ooh, a stylish new sign on Gourmet Burger Bank - actually makes it look rather upmarket and not like a temporary 50p shop. Presumably they were so broke when they started out that they couldn't afford the proper sign. Worth the wait.

Just been to Gourmet Burger on Belmont Road...

...Now, before I start, let me state that I have been there a few times previously and I have enjoyed the meal greatly...this time however...

We get there around 7.30, it isn't busy, we are seated quite guickly. So far so good.

We order our meals, Thai Chicken stir-fry for my wife, standard old bacon cheeseburger for myself.

Meals arrive, mine unfortunately with mayo. I understand that 30% of school-leavers can't read these days, but purleese.

My wifes Thai Oil and Chicken was quite nice, apart from the copious amount of oil, approx 7 teaspoonfuls too much oil (that's a LOT of oil - explanation was that the chilli slices came in oil - you Gourmet guys should consider nipping to Mace next door, they sell this stuff called "Kitchen Roll", it's amazingly useful for such issues).

Finally my burger arrives (wifey is nearly finished, we had been out all day at the country fair in Moira, we were hungry)and all is, well, disappointing.

We won't be back unfortunately, which is a shame, because we really liked the place.
