The revolution was televised after all! Two days before the "big rickety wheel" completes its final revolution at 6pm on Sunday afternoon, I popped back on-board and captured the view as it spun around. (You'll get a full trip around from about 25 seconds into the video. Go full screen to feel the lurches!)
Update - click through onto the Vimeo site to watch it in HD.
For those who are curious, one Flip camera looked out the front while a second looked out the back, and the two HD views were synchronised using a click of the fingers on the two sound tracks. You can hear strains of Ian Paisley preaching out the front of the City Hall.
There’s a slightly longer edited version on Vimeo. Feel free to get in touch if you have a good use for the original HD footage!
cheers for that!!!!
ReplyDeleteHusband thinks it's all a ploy to boost footfall, and it won't go anywhere. Such cynicism! Love the soundtrack- suggest arthouse French movie as good use. The regeneration snippet my favourite!
ReplyDeleteI've been on the wheel a few times. I just like to look at it though, espeically if I'm in late night and it's all light up, kinda brightens up the place a bit!
ReplyDeleteBut a very good video, definitely captures what its all about! :)
magsmcc - I think they'll have all the queues they need for the last few working hours!
ReplyDeletecool wee video alan, thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely delighted to see this tacky childish moronic basket for muppets removed from the City Hall grounds.
ReplyDeleteSpectacles like this exellent example of adult stupidity should be kept well away from city centres let alone parked outside one of the very few buildings in Belfast worth looking at.
So dear councilors in future if you wish to turn Belfast city centre into a play toilet for halfwits why don't you just hang a sign at the end of the M2...

Excellent bit of work Alan. Very well done. Enjoyed that.
ReplyDeleteNice work Alan,
ReplyDeleteI have never been on the wheel and I must confess I will be glad to see it go. But I liked your video it was all of the "Big Wheel" experience I needed.
Thanks.
