Apple Store coming to Belfast

Update - review of the opening.

Update - opens Saturday 20 September at 9am

Update 11 February 2008 - Apple now listing some vacancies for their Belfast store on their UK jobs site.

Update 6 March 2008 - Victoria Square now open ... though you'll need to wait until June/July for the Apple Store to start trading.

In a post today, goodonpaper (via ifoAppleStore) reports that an Apple Store is likely to be filling unit UG5 in Belfast’s Victoria Square shopping / residential / cinema / entertainment complex.

Apple’s opening will be after the main Victoria Square opens its doors to the public in March 2008. But the traditional Apple Store glass look will certainly fit the look of Victoria Square!

But all the merchandise is available for the same price (or occasionally cheaper) in the online store!

I mean for the employment prospects!

And even if it is easier to get online it's still fun to go to the store and play with things! As well as being far handier and reliable than macsys if ever u need something fixed

Quite, ruthebabes. No longer having to drive up to Mallusk at rush hour to get my logic board replaced. Of course if the damn thing worked out of the box the way they kept telling me it would, it would be even better, but that's apparently not part of Steve Jobs' vision.

I didn't know this! How could I have missed that? I'll probably still buy online - cos the NUJ gets me a wee baby bit of an Applestore discount - but still, nothing beats a bit of hands-on first....

We've the same arrangement in work - but if time is of the essence, then AppleStore's a lot faster than Apple's weird dispatch process.

Good comments posted. I think its very exciting that apple will finally come to N.Ireland. Apart from the opportunity to get hands on before you buy, hopefully we will get the chance to attend the workshops. And lets not forget...Its an apple store and that means sleeping rough to get first in line for some of the free goodies available on day one!

Exciting. A real store, as distinct from online allows touch and fell and hopefully good instant advice. Well done Apple

Congrats guys, hope to see you all in the store when it opens.

P.S Would you really want to welcome a mob of apple fanatics when the store opens at 9am? All zombie like after sleeping rough outside the store through the night.

There seem to be so many conflicting reports about if/when this elusive store is finally opening. Does anyone have a definite date, if it's not already open, as to when it will be officially open?

I just saw the other thread with pics, got excited, peed on the cat so now have to go clean up the mess. Karma once more.
