Web 2.0 is all the rage - if you don't have
Tim O'Reilly's seminal definition at the tip of your tongue, it basically boils down to a more collaborative internet (where models of trust are rewritten, and you're not quite sure who owns all the different pieces of software that have been mashed together to make your online application work).
Google were giving away
promotional badges at the
Free and Open Source Software conference in Belfast back in March. You may remember
my post about Richard Stallman's speech.

The badges are more state-of-the-art than run-of-the-mill.

First there's the magnetic clip to attach them. No pin holes in your shite or blouse. Then by twisting and tighening the screw on the back, the lights come on and the badge comes to life. Check out the clip on
YouTube.
And the
Google Store has lots of other branded-kitsch worthy of
Belfast's new IKEA store too.
